Dr. Woods was an invited speaker at the 2025 Arizona Veterinary Medical Association State meeting, where he presented “COMPARATIVE MEDICINE: Advancing Human and Veterinary Medicine in Parallel”. Dr. Woods spoke for an hour on the history of one medicine, comparative medicine and how veterinary medicine is reshaping the translational research process. Dr. Woods covered personal examples of his work in ophthalmology that led to the first subscleral glaucoma implant for dogs and humans, and his work in antivenoms and tumor imaging agents that have dual applications for humans and companion animals.
